Kybella® is an FDA-approved injectable that improves the appearance of submental fullness/double chin by destroying fat cells. Kybella® is a man-made form of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring material that helps the body absorb fat. Treatment is fast, requires little downtime and destroys fat cells permanently. The right candidate for treatment is someone with good skin quality so that after the fat is gone the skin can conform to the smaller surface area.
Other common small areas that can be treated with Kybella® include bra bulge, inner thighs, abdomen, banana rolls (saddlebag), buffalo hump (fat pad on upper back) and more. With any Kybella treatment, 2-3 sessions are usually recommended. Sessions should be separated by 6 weeks allowing for destroying of the fat cells, elimination and healing to occur.
